Meet
Sam Szucs
My venture into design started nearly a decade ago when I landed my first job, fresh out of school. This experience sparked a passion for design and coding that led me to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Multimedia from the University of South Africa while working full-time.
The past years have been a period of growth and learning, helping me evolve into a versatile designer.
Get to Know Me
What Drives Me
I care about thoughtful, considered design that solves real problems. I am naturally methodical and empathetic, and I tend to approach projects with a balance of structure and flexibility. Whether I am simplifying a process for a business or helping a user navigate a product with less friction, I enjoy identifying areas where improvements can make a difference. Helping people through design is what motivates me to keep learning and refining my approach.
My Career so Far
SACCTN Marketing
SACCTN Marketing was where I began my career. I worked across a broad range of responsibilities including web design, front-end development, graphics, and client support. I built and maintained over 200 websites using a custom CMS and worked closely with the in-house developer to improve internal systems and applications. During this time, I also studied full-time, completing my degree with 14 distinctions. It was a demanding but rewarding period that helped me build a strong foundation in digital design, time management, and problem-solving.
Milestone Kitchens
Milestone Kitchens was one of SACCTN’s clients, and I managed their website as part of my role. During the COVID-19 period, they approached SACCTN with a request for 3D kitchen layouts. I took on the project, taught myself SketchUp, and presented a visual solution that led to them offering me a full-time position. Since joining Milestone Kitchens, I have taken the lead on multiple design and product improvement projects, from 3D layout planning to UI/UX development for internal tools and customer-facing platforms. I have also worked to implement better internal systems for file management and remote collaboration. Separately, I have taken on freelance work such as the Silvia Miles Rebounding website, where I led the entire design and development process in close collaboration with the client and an external developer.

Collaborating with Others
I have worked with developers, sales teams, business stakeholders, clients, and production teams. At SACCTN, I often supported clients directly, explaining technical processes in a way that was easy to understand, especially for users unfamiliar with digital tools. At Milestone Kitchens, I regularly collaborate with the Managing Director to implement business and design improvements, and I worked with the sales team to introduce new systems. I have also worked closely with the carpentry team to refine kitchen designs and resolve challenges on the factory floor. Communication and clarity have been key in all of these interactions.
Tools and Skills
Tools
I complete my tasks using a range of tools depending on the needs of each project. These include but are not limited to Adobe XD, Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, SketchUp, WordPress, and Miro. I also work with HTML and CSS, and have contributed to both visual and structural aspects of website and product development.
Soft Skills
During my career I have learnt to be adoptable, time orientated, efficient, detail orientated, dead-line driven and to take intuitive. However, I feel that one of the most important skills I have learnt is empathy.
Career Goals
I have worked in small teams where being adaptable and independent has been essential. Going forward, I would like to be part of a larger, collaborative environment where people are encouraged to share ideas and solve problems together. I am interested in roles that combine user interface design, user experience design, interaction design, and front-end development. Ideally, I would like to work remotely or in a hybrid setup with a team that values thoughtful work and ongoing learning.
Work-Life Balance
Outside of work, I enjoy a mix of physical activities and relaxation. I do rebounding, play squash and enjoy hiking. I like games that involve strategy or creativity, and I always have a series or two on the go. When I got married it reinforced my passion for planning processes and collaborating with various people with their specific roles to make everything come together. I value time to recharge, and I believe a balanced routine helps me do better work.
